Over the spring and summer of this year, Marty and Mark spent a good deal of time refining and rebuilding the structure of the shower that Marty designed and that we've brought to Burning Man each year as a contribution to the village we camp in.

Because the shower attracted so my people, the area around it became a sort of social hub and a great place to meet people. Gifts and great conversation were often given to us in thanks for our serving as hosts. Here, Melanie is treated to a beautiful and elaborate henna tattoo by one of our visitors.

Torrey was another of our campmates. Whenever I was feeling lumpy or muddy or foul, I could just watch as Torrey sat and freshened herself up and feel instantly better. One afternoon she tenderly applied witch hazel to my parched cheeks with a round little cotton ball. It was sublime.
