This moth is the adult form of the web worms that that you see so often in pecan trees in Texas in the summer. I found it sitting on the power button of my desktop computer this morning, absorbing the glow.

Apparently today is fabulous insects day! My wonderful neighbor Lindsay brought over a couple of her pet mantids for me to enjoy watching while they ate nice shiny green flies, fresh from the garden.

This mantid is named after the unicorn, by virtue of the single little horn on top of his noggin. He struck a ninja pose and held it for our enjoyment.

On a recent Monday evening, Erin, Sadie, Aaron, Brooke and I all assembled in San Antonio where we grabbed a delicious hamburger at Sam's Burgers and then headed to the parking lot under the freeway behind the restaurant to visit the regular Monday night practice session of the Brothers of the Flame fire troupe.
