Kurt and Brooke took time first thing after we got there to deep clean and organize the smallish kitchen we would be using continually throughout the weekend. What an awesome job they did!

There's sure nothing I like better than a bright Texas winter afternoon, especially when there's nothing better to do than stroll through an exotic landscape with some of my very best friends. I bided my time, waiting for everyone to assemble, by swinging through the crisp desert air in the grips of a severe butt cruncher.

On the way down to the property where we'd find the Old Wet were these curious patches of rock. Very definitely volcanic flow of one type around another. I haven't a clue what it's called, but it sure is cool

One of the things we enjoyed seeing on all our hikes was the beautiful pinks and reds the paddle cactus exhibits this time of year. Apparently, it's got something to do with the combination of cold and water and chemistry, but it makes for quite a show. Just gorgeous!
